Dear ISIA members in Europe,
On 21.10.2019, a meeting was held in Munich at the invitation of Snowsport Austria. The EU member states that signed the MoU were invited to do so. The aim of the meeting was to discuss some procedures and procedures proposed by the Syndicat National of the Monitorur du Ski Francais (S.N.M.S.F.) resulting from the European Union Delegated Regulation (DRA) for professional ski instructors. The basic points relating to the Delegated Regulation, automatic recognition, the qualifications concerned, the Technical Test and the Safety Test are described in concrete terms in the Regulation itself and its Annexes. The ISIA will be happy to answer your questions. You can also contact the Directorate-General for the Internal Market of the European Commission around Martin Frohn directly.
The European professional ski instructors who have the professional ski instructor status according to the Delegated Regulation will in future be on the EU IMI platform and each member state can check online whether all the requirements for automatic recognition are met. This special module for professional ski instructors is currently being developed by the EU Commission and is expected to go online in the first half of 2020. Until the online launch of the platform, there will be another small sticker for the coming winter, called C.T.T. (common training test), for the national ski instructor pass. You can use this sticker if:
- the highest-audited ski instructors in an EU Member State apply for an automatic recognition of their qualifications in another EU Member State;
- the highly certified ski instructors in an EU Member State pursue their profession in another EU Member State as an independent ski instructor;
- the highly certified ski instructors in an EU Member State want to settle in another EU member state and run a commercial ski school there. In addition, the same national requirements apply here as those that domestic professional ski instructors must prove.
It should therefore be noted that the new C.T.T. sticker on the national IDs of the vocational ski instructors does not represent a qualification mark, but only serves as a sign of automatic recognition of the professional qualification in the coming winter. The International Ski Instructors’ Association (ISIA) brand remains the only globally valid and accepted qualification brand based on the training standards applicable in 37 ISIA member nations. The “MoU” sticker is no longer available. Please note that common training tests (C.T.T.) and a C.T.T. Stickers for which cross-border work are not absolutely necessary. It is a possible way to offer the benefit of automatic recognition across the EU. The automatic CTT recognition regime complements the existing EU regulation for the recognition of professional qualifications from other EU Member States.
From 19 to 21.01.2020, the next calibration of the reference drivers for the winter 2019-20 will take place in Kirchberg/Austria. Snowsport Austria has already sent out the invitations. If you have not received an invitation and would like to participate in the calibration, please contact Snowsport Austria directly. It would be desirable if as many EU member states as possible participate with their reference drivers. All Member States referred to in Annex 1 to the DRA shall have the right to participate in the calibration or to officially observe it.
It is important that we work together openly, collegially and constructively in all current developments. Only when we find a common position, unlike the ideas of individuals, will we achieve something. The ISIA Bureau and the Secretary-General are clearly in favour of this cooperation and are happy to provide mutual exchange.
Greetings
Peter Hennekes
ISIA Secretary-General
